My Year To “Be”

Every year, I create a vision board and goals for the following year. Yes, I’m one of those people! But I truly believe that it helps give me direction. It’s like having a compass and a map for where I want to go.

This year, as I think about 2015, I am choosing one word. I want one word to ground me and to remind me of my destination. And that word is Be.

You see, I think we are all running too hard, too fast. We are filling up our every moment of every day. Most of us are in a constant state of overwhelm. And if, by any chance, we get one single moment, we pick up our phones and get on social media. There is so much noise. From Facebook to text, from Skype to email.

I’m done with being on overdrive.

So my resolution this year is not about six packs or six figures. Instead, I just want to be. I want to slow down and be in the moment. I want to turn off the noise and be mindful of whatever activity I am in. I want to play with my kids and not be checking email. I want to work in a flow state without constant distractions. And the only way to do that is to slow down, unplug and plug in to my life.

The word “Be” grounds me.

It makes me take a breath.

It reminds me of who I am and who I want to be. Ah, there that word is again.
