Hormone Replacement Therapy For Children

Genentech announced that it received FDA approval for its new drug, Nutropin Depot, the first long-acting dosage form of hormone replacement therapy for the tens of thousands of children with growth hormone deficiencies.

Nutropin Depot requires only one or two doses per month compared to the current growth hormone therapies that require multiple injections each week (sometimes daily) for several years. I’m hopeful that in the coming century a combination of old-fashioned wisdom and cutting-edge scientific research will improve health for children and make medical treatments more humane!
