AIDS Leaves Orphans

We are facing the largest orphan crisis in human history, according to Carol Bellamy, the Executive Director of UNICEF. Her remarks at a conference in Namibia on orphans and vulnerable children were reported by Reuters news on November 27, 2002.

The global AIDS pandemic is ravaging sub-Saharan Africa, and leaving growing millions of children with sick or dying parents. December 1 was World AIDS Day, where people around the world joined their voices to seek to stem the tide of this ravaging epidemic.

I’m glad UNICEF is championing the little ones who are being left behind in its wake.
