Oatmeal in the Crockpot Recipe

Using a crockpot to cook oatmeal is absolutely genius! Before bed, you can put the steel cut oats on to cook and wake up to the heavenly smell of cinnamon and oats — all ready to scoop into bowls and add toppings. This is especially good on a cold morning, but a great breakfast option any morning.

Oatmeal in the Crockpot

Serves 4-6
Prep Time: 2 mins
Cook Time: Overnight

* egg-free
* nut-free
* gluten-free

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup steel cut oats
  • 2 Cups water
  • 2 1/2 Cups milk
  • 1 Tsp cinnamon

Preparation

1. Place the ingredients in a crockpot and stir to combine.

2. Cook the oatmeal on low heat for 5-9 hours (the amount of time can vary depending on your crockpot. Some crockpots that don’t have non-stick surfaces can get hotter than others).

3. Stir in desired accompaniments and serve.

* I like to let the kids squeeze in their own honey to get them involved and swirl in a bit of extra milk to cool it down for them.

Accompaniments

Honey, maple syrup, walnuts and or raisins.
