Is there ever a time to wait beyond a year for giving a child honey? What about cereals that contain honey, such as Honey Nut Cheerios?
In general, once kids have reached age 1 they are at dramatically lower risk for infant botulism, which is the reason we delay honey. However, if there is any question of immune deficiency I do like waiting longer. How do you know if a child is having too many infections and might have an immune problem? Here’s a quick check list to help.
Either way, a small amount of honey in the cereal, or as an ingredient in any other baked good, is far less of a concern than straight, uncooked honey.
What a wonderful experience. It does sound like heaven ... on day 14 :)...
I am so tickled by everyone's comments to my posts this week. Thank you all...
My daughter has them, and they've never shown up during any of the 3 EEG's...
I have her. She's 6. Only difference is her behavior is worse away from home...
