Karen has enjoyed a diverse career with roles in both the public and private sectors. She has held executive positions in retailing and been appointed to corporate and school boards and government advisory committees.
Karen recently turned her attention to manufacturing. She is now co-owner of Anzacare Limited, a manufacturer of medical devices.
Anzacare makes bedwetting alarms for children under the DRI Sleeper® brand, and blood-leak detection alarms for patients on dialysis under the HEMOdialert™ brand.
Karen was attracted to the business because of first-hand experience with bedwetting in her own children. When the opportunity presented itself to become a manufacturer of these devices, and support other families with a proven solution to the bedwetting problem, Karen seized it.
Karen understands the pressures a family can come under when one or more children is a bedwetter and both parents work. She also understands the undeserved shame and embarrassment that bedwetting can cause a child, even though it is one of the most common paediatric health issues.
As a bedwetting adviser, she is able to reassure parents and provide guidance on strategies and techniques to use with a bedwetting alarm to ensure successful outcomes. Her DRI-Sleeper blog provides tips on night time toilet training for children of all ages, and she has written guest blogs for ERIC, the Children’s Bowel and Bladder Charity, in the UK.
Karen regularly attends paediatric continence seminars around the world and maintains close contact with world-leading experts who work with children’s continence issues.
Karen believes that every young bedwetter should be provided with the opportunity and support to become a dry sleeper. For her, there is nothing more satisfying than hearing from parents whose children have finally been cured of their bedwetting, and have blossomed into the confident, happy kids they deserve to be.
