Seventh Generation's "Let's Talk...Period" Raises Funds, Awareness for Ovarian Cancer Research

Did you know that more than 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year? That's 22,000 women too many. The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague and subtle making it difficult to diagnose. And there is no effective screening test for ovarian cancer other than those for patients at high risk or who have early symptoms.

But would you even know the symptoms in the first place?  The main signs include bloating, pelvic and/or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and urinary urgency or frequency.  These symptoms are not as useful in identifying ovarian cancer as they are also frequently found in women in the general population who do not have ovarian cancer. (Haven't we all experienced them at some point or another?) Since knowledge is power, we encourage you to learn more about ovarian cancer and be proactive about your gynecological health.

Seventh Generation is supporting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) in its mission to fund research to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer. We've designated today - September 1 - as "Let's Talk....Period Day" in observance of September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. With your help, Seventh Generation is donating $22,000 to the OCRF in honor of these 22,000 women diagnosed. Please visit www.letstalkperiod.com for more information and to sign up to pledge your support. Seventh Generation will donate the money on your behalf.

Your action gives hope.
