Exercise Every Day

Stroller Strides Squat In Front Of BabyOk, I know this sounds overwhelming if you are already having trouble getting a workout in. But here’s my thought on this. Let’s say you plan to workout on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Monday, your baby is sick and you miss your Stroller Strides class. On Friday, you aren’t feeling well and miss that workout. Now, you have just worked out on Wednesday. Yes, you could say “I’ll just workout on other days to make up for it”. But that doesn’t really work. Let’s face it. Our days are packed as moms from wake to sleep. You have playdates, your errands to run, work, etc. So consider this, PLAN to exercise every day. Literally put it in your appointment book and find a way to get it in on most if not all days. Some days may be lighter or shorter, but you are moving regularly. Then, when appointments come up, you won’t have to feel bad that you only exercised one day this week.

Please share! What workout strategies work for you?

Lisa- thanks for a important

Lisa- thanks for a important and positive tip. I am a mom with 3 boys 6 and under and I run my own business-which means I have a long list of things to do at every given moment. But that does not mean I should not keep exercise as one of those must dos. I think it is important to talk about exercise and get our bodies moving every day, just as I believe it is important to talk about healthy foods and how they nourish our bodies. We need to be good role models for our kids and by doing and talking about the importance of movement and healthy foods, our kids will understand the reasoning for these things and they will grow up with healthier habits And for moms, exercise is essential to giving us a break or at least a way for our body to relieve stress and burn calories.

I'm not a mom, but I

I'm not a mom, but I definitely can relate. We start of the new year, the new month, the new week, a new day with high hopes that we'll get in our exercise. And little errands become big trips; a quick email check becomes a 3-hour project; an in-and-out coffee run turns into a gab fest with an old friend in the coffee shop. We all get lost in our days, and we all put off exercise. I shoot for 5-6 workouts a week, and I have started keeping a runners' diary to keep track. Perhaps it's Sunday night and I've only gotten in 4 days? I can sit down and do some floor work. Or maybe I noted how good it was to take an early-morning run one day. That prompts me to set the alarm for Monday morning since I've proven it's a great way to start off the week. Thanks for the encouragement to keep planning. Exercise almost always clears the head, and that's the respite from our busy lives that we all need.
