Kindle

Dr. Greene is not just a writer, he's a reader. At any given time, he's in the middle of at least four books. When he travels, four books add a lot of weight to his carry-on. If any of them are hard cover, look out. When the Amazon Kindle came out, it was on my list to buy for him. He's absolutely loves it! He finds the reading experience to be very pleasurable and has adjusted to the "electronic paper" just fine. He loves carrying multiple books at a time (I can only keep track of one or two story lines at once, but not Dr. Greene). And the fact that it's a very green alternative is enough to make a Kindle worth the investment.

And now, the Kindle 2 is out with a slew of added features. Here's what the folks at Kindle say about the new version:

  • 3G wireless connection that lets you download books directly onto the Kindle in less than 60 seconds
  • 25% longer battery life
  • 20% faster page turns
  • a text to speech feature that lets you hear the book you're in the middle of if it's more convenient (or safer) to switch from text to audio

Dr. Greene loves his original. If you have a Kindle 2, please rate it!

I've been resisting the lure

I've been resisting the lure of the Kindle, but your review may make me a believer. But I love reading in the tub.... are they waterproof?
