It is rare that I get this excited about tech stuff, but this is THE COOLEST GEEK gear -- EVER! Can you tell I love my new Eye-Fi card? Dr. Greene gave me an Eye-Fi for my birthday (and thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday -- it was!). When I plugged it into my computer the first time I got a notice that there might be a problem with this version and they would like to mail me a new one. All I needed to do was fill out the form and they would send me one. When it came, I was to return the original one in the postage paid envelope. Score one for Eye-Fi -- great customer service!
The new one just arrived and I plugged it into my USB slot. It walked me through the set up and I was ready to test it. Score two for Eye-Fi -- it was quick and easy.
But what does it do, you ask??? This is the most amazing part ...
I put the Eye-Fi SD card into my camera, turned it on and went into the backyard for a few test photos. When I walked back into the house, magic happened. Seriously -- magic! I set my camera down next to my computer and the photos I'd just taken began to transfer onto my computer. Score three for Eye-Fi -- it performed as advertised.
And not only that, but I was able to upload them to my photo directory (automatically tagged with date and location) and to my favorite file sharing site. Score more, heck give this a ten!
The only downside I've seen so far is I can only select one online service so I have to choose between Flickr and Facebook -- but I can go back and forth if there are some shots I only want on one or the other. If I figure out how to send all the photos to more than one, I'll let you know.
BTW -- the upload was blazing fast, too, so score some more!
Here is my first test shot -- it's Springtime in Danville!

New Eye-Fi
I am still lovin' my Eye-Fi, but just got an email notice that a new version is out. Bigger storage size, faster downloads, and the price has dropped. They also have a new feature -- Endless Memory Mode. Here's what they say, "Always running out of space? With Endless Memory Mode, your Eye-Fi card will automatically free up space once your photos and videos have been safely delivered."
I'm not throwing my old Eye-Fi away (it's working like a charm), but this new version has me drooling ... again.
