Dr. Greene and I love the tools that make it easier to prepare the fresh fruits and veggies that we love to feed our family. These two tools are additions to the kitchen gadgets I mentioned the other day.
The Williams-Sonoma Vegetable Chop & Measure is less expensive than the Professional Multi-Chopper and a little less sturdy, but it’s still a great find. Just put fruits and veggies on top of four interchangeable grids and pull the frame closed. Your diced or sliced results fall neatly into the plastic compartment, which also serves as a handy measuring cup.
As long as you’re there to help push, your toddler can lend a hand as well. Remember – kids love helping with food prep, and the more they play with colorful fruits and veggies, the more likely they’ll be to try them!

The Zyliss 4-in-1 Slicer and Grater is the best I've used. The interchangeable blades save room in your kitchen drawer (and plastic in the manufacturing process). They are extremely easy to use, but they’re very sharp, so keep the blade covers on them when not in use.
This isn't a tool a young child can use, but it will make your life in the kitchen easier.

PS – Don’t worry about cleanup. I wouldn’t recommend any kitchen timesaver that didn’t go into the dishwasher.
