Where the Sidewalk Ends

I feel it is an honor and my duty to present new babies with a copy of Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends. I bought this children’s poetry book for my first nephew, Jamison, several months before he actually made an appearance, and I wrapped it with much love and brought it to the hospital with me the day we welcomed him into this world.

I challenge you to read “Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too” without giggling. And everyone will learn something from the woeful tale of Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout, who Would Not Take the Garbage Out. Silverstein’s pen-and-ink drawings, silly words and melodic poems are perfect to read to your littlest ones until they’re old enough to read them to you.
