Mailbox

I was at my parents’ house a few weeks ago, and I’ve never seen my nephews amuse themselves (and us) for so long! They set up this cool little play mailbox, and each one had a pile of “mail” to deliver and pick up.

The mailbox came with its own mail, but that wasn’t nearly enough for our little postmen (ages 2 and 5). My mom had a pile of old hotel room key cards and fake credit cards (the ones that come when credit card companies send those “don’t miss this opportunity” offers). Every adult in the room received letters and had to mail letters. Boy, if we didn’t have enough letters to mail, we got in trouble.

I just loved how the mailbox encouraged interaction between the kids and adults, and it was something we could do together as we chatted. It’s definitely a family favorite!
