Where’s the Cold Virus?

These findings were reported at the 2008 annual meeting of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American Society for Microbiology held in Washington, DC. The University of Virginia team are leaders in the study of the common cold. Two years ago they showed that the cold virus survives in hotel rooms the day after people with colds check out, waiting for you when you check in.

I don't think Dr Green is

I don't think Dr Green is saying we all need to wash our hands everytime we touch everything however, only that we should be aware of what's out there. If you are healthy you probably will not get sick but, if you have a child and you know there are sick people around it's only responsible to wash hands more frequently. Why would you want your child to suffer if you could help it. *Also Lysol is really not the best alternative for little ones. It contains hazerdous chemicals that can irritate the skin and lungs of individuals especially babies.

I agree with Dr. Green and

I agree with Dr. Green and keep Lysol-ing everything possible, BUT if there is a virus in your apartment, you can only lessen the chances of getting infected, not completely eliminate it. It can also be airborne so you inhale it directly.

I cannot see that washing our

I cannot see that washing our hands, apart from the obvious times, after using the toilet or before eating, will help. We teach our children from when they are tots to be polite and cover their mouths when they cough, but door handles and remote controls? Unless we all want to become paranoid perhaps the old saying, a little dirt hurts no-one, should be remembered. It might even help immunity.
