Help for Eczema

I received a letter from a mother in St. Clair, Missouri, who reported that she found that her daughter's eczema improved with daily bathing. Eczema is a condition with dry, sensitive skin. Conventional pediatric wisdom has been that less bathing is better. This remains true with long baths, where the skin gets pruny. Long baths dry out the skin. Nevertheless, short baths without soap can help hydrate the skin, especially when followed immediately by a moisturizer. A humidifier can also help.

Thanks for writing, Monica

Help for Eczema

It was very tricky for me to pick the "right" amount of time to bathe my daughter for eczema. I found it was more important to take care of the itch or I was never going to have a chance. I tried a cosmetic product called Regen. It worked so well, I even use it on poison ivy! A lot easier than guessing how long to stay in the tub! Here is a pic: http://blog.oli-co.com/?p=547
