TV Safety for Vision

I've been asked to help solve a family dispute between Nathaniel Toney and his wife of Laurel, Maryland. One was taught that children should always watch TV with a lamp on to protect the eyes; the other learned that watching in the dark is safer. Which is it? Pediatric ophthalmologist, Joan Goble, M.D., assured me that (as I suspected) it makes no difference. Whichever they prefer is fine. My concern is to limit TV viewing to 1-2 hours per day, so that the kids can exercise their minds and their bodies with active play.
