Marcy Axness PhD
Dr. Marcy Axness is an early development specialist, parent coach and author of Parenting for Peace: Raising the Next Generation of Peacemakers. Her own life and discoveries as an adopted person, and then her experiences as a mother, led her to pursue deeper understanding of how we become who we become, and how we can do it in a healthier and more joyful way. She wove her findings into Parenting for Peace, a user-friendly, seven-step / seven-principle roadmap for hardwiring our babies and children with the brain circuitry for such essential peacemaker capacities as self-regulation, empathy, intelligence, trust and imagination. The win-win is that a child wired in this vibrantly healthy way is a joy to parent, and as an adult has the heart to embrace and exemplify peace, the mind to innovate solutions to social and ecological challenges, and the will to enact them -- to be successful in a changing world. Parenting for Peace offers readers a welcome shortcut around today’s information overload, because it gives them the most important research from dozens of leading experts woven together with its own empowering perspectives on bringing more joy into family life.
A popular international speaker on attachment, culture, and child & parent development, Dr. Axness has been featured in several documentary films as an expert in conscious pregnancy, adoption, and Waldorf education -- and is proud to have been mentored by such seminal thinkers as Joseph Chilton Pearce and Bruce Lipton.
She taught prenatal development at Santa Barbara Graduate Institute, and continues to oversee doctoral candidates at The Chicago School of Professional psychology. She also trains adoption, education, and childcare professionals about new findings in early development and their implications for practice. Her teachings are imbued with a relevance and compassion borne of her willingness to share her own parenting struggles and discoveries. (She has been heard to say that motherhood "brought her to her knees.") Indeed, Dr. Marcy views as her most impressive credential that during her 25-year marriage she birthed two babies, mothered two toddlers, shepherded two school-aged children, parented two teens, and is proud to have seen two extraordinary individuals -- Ian and Eve -- out of the nest and into the world to pursue their paths of life artistry.
Marcy is offering Dr. Greene's readers a free copy of her "7-Step Guide: Helping Your Child Release Stuck Behaviors eBooklet, a unique, powerful tool for parents to use with children of all ages.
