Toddler Swallowed screw

My 2 1/2 year old kid swallowed a small screw last wed(a week back). We took her to the Urgent care and the Dr. the day she swallowed and took X-RAY. It showed that it was in the stomach. I have been checking the poopy diapers for the screw but it hasn't come out yet. How long will it take for it to come out? I Am giving prune juice and fiber one bars to speed the process. Will it help? Thanks.

A metal detector is one way

A metal detector is one way to track a screw's progress without further radiation - though while kids are still in diapers it's easy (if not pleasant!) to know pretty well whether or not it has passed.

Plenty of fluids - and things that speed up poops like those you've suggested - may help: but you don't want laxatives that increase intestinal contractions.

How long it will take varies quite a bit, but when something hasn't passed in a week or so, it's a good idea to check back in with your doc.
