Toddler Nutritian - Milk Alternatives

My 14 month old has sinus and respiratory problems (on daily nose spray and inhalers) and we have taken him off cows formula and milk because it makes his mucus and cogestion much worse. He was on soy formula but now that he is on table food we are giving him soy milk but I am hearing that this may not be enough fat and nutrients for him. I have also heard concern about estrogen in soy milk. I would love some more input and different perspectives please!

Ask your doctor about using

Ask your doctor about using an dairy free soy free milk like neocate for your baby. My kids are dairy free soy free. The main concerns with diet would be lack of calcium and also calories. My kids drink Trader Joes coconut milk, it comes sweetened and unsweetened. Most grocery stores now stock SO DELICIOUS coconut milk yogurts. Both products are fortified with calcium and vitamin D. If you are concerned that your baby is lacking calories due to dairy free, then consult a nutritionist or ask your doctor. Ways of increasing calories are adding olive oil to mashed potato, avocadoes high in calories and good fats. Make sure you have lots of protein, meat, fish, eggs, fruit and veg in diet. Good luck!
