swaddling

My 5 month old sleeps in a SwaddleMe sleepsack, and has since day 1. She's little for her age - just now 13.5 lbs. The swaddles only go to 14 lbs. Before she was born I'd bought 4 sleepsacks for once she'd outgrown the swaddles - I thought surely by now! But, I tried her in the sleepsack again last night with no luck - she just can't sleep unswaddled! Your thoughts? Should I work on weaning her from them, now or at a specified time, or as long as she likes them should I keep swaddling her (in which case I need to buy the next bigger size!). She cannot roll back to front yet, but once she can, is it a worry to have her arms all bound up in that, in case she rolls over and can't get turned back around? Also, with summer approaching, I'm worried she'll get too hot in them! Suggestions?

As 6 months approaches,

As 6 months approaches, several things may happen: many babies start liking being swaddled less (in part because they are getting better with their arms); many babies sleep better (the biggest sleep improvement on average is between 5-6 months); and, in this case, the weather is getting warmer. These are all reasons it might be nice to consider trying to wean from the swaddling, unless she really demands it.
