I am just learning about the research around PVC and am upset that my toddler's favorite doll is vinyl. I no longer feel this is a safe toy for her, but she has an intense psychological attachment to the toy. "Blue baby," as she calls it is basically her imaginary friend. She tucks her in each night, makes up stories about their adventures together, brings her everywhere, acts out important events, etc... She makes it plain that she likes "hard babies" because they loook real but there is no vinyl-free hard doll out there. I am trying to remove all unsafe toys but am concerned about the psychological ramifications of removing this toy. What would you do? I hate seeing her cuddle this thing now that I know what it's made of!
