Hi there, i was wondering if you could help me as i have tried to find information about these on the internet to no avail. I had a baby 2 and half years ago who starting fitting around 5-6 days old, i took her into hospital and they finally diagnosed her to have 5th day fits and she is now a happy healthy toddler. I have just had a new baby who is 10 days old she has been having more or less identical fits since 4-5 days old she is still having them now at 10 days, when my 2 year old had the fits they were close together and seemed to be everytime she woke up she would get one and they gradually got worse and peaked. She had jerking limbs and her head would turn inwards and her eyes would roll to the side and she would sometimes lip smack and even froth at the mouth and the duration that these lasted seemed to become more and more lasting about a minute or more they eventually tapered off. I have noticed with my new baby that these fits are very irregular and have been since she started getting them they do seem to have become longer in duration but a bit erratic when she has them, for instance she had the last 3 - one at 5am in the morning and went all the way until 5am the following morning (24 hours) before she had another one then she had one at 10am fell asleep then woke at 1.30 pm and had another one and has fallen asleep again, her milk intake doesnt seem as much she seems to only have taken about 4 ounces in 8 hours i cannot remember if this is what happened with my toddler so i was wondering if you could tell me if it is normal for them to take less feeds when this is happening to them. With my new baby's fits they are more or less identical but she tries to cry while there happening and cant seem to, when they have finished she has a very vacant stare for about 30-60 seconds before she comes around. I have not been to the hospital with my new daughter about these as i cannot see what else she could have that is so identical to my 2 year old - im just baffeled as to why my children have had these i have another daughter and son as well and they have not experienced anything like this so i am confused as to why my 2 youngest girls have. Any infomation on this would be greatly appreciated and also an explanation as to why this would have happened to two of my children? Thank you
