Cradle Cap and Skin Irritation

I was gently rubbing off the yellow flakes off my son's eyebrows and then the skin became blotchy and red, will the skin irritation be ok after awhile or should I bring him to the doctor? What can I do at home? Dab his eyebrows with cool water?
