????

Good afternoon. I have a son 8 months, 3 weeks ago he had a fever of up to 38., Then dropped, and so the whole week. When we got to the doctor, it turned out that run down the left ear, the doctor wrote out antibiotics, ear drops and syrup for colds. All drank to the end. Once finished taking antibiotics - the child started to act up, and yesterday laid his nose around in the deep, green snot, he began to cough. What could it be and why antibiotics do not help?? Thanks for the answer

When kids start acting sick

When kids start acting sick again as they finish their medicines, it's wise to get back in touch with the doctor.

There are several things that might be going on, Nadiia. For instance, the bacteria causing the original ear infection may not have been entirely killed by the antibiotic, so resistant bacteria are left behind, causing a problem. Perhaps a stronger antibiotic is needed. Or the current cough and snotty nose may be from a viral infection, unrelated to the ear infection. Antibiotics don't kill viruses.

Having your son - and your son's ears - checked again should be able to help sort out what is going on and where to go from here.
