Efforts to Provide Healthcare for all Children

Literally millions of children in the United States remain without health insurance. Whether from lack of eligibility or from lack of awareness of eligibility, these children fall between the cracks of commercial insurance, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), not getting the attention and care they deserve. I applaud President Clinton's current effort to seek funds from Congress, both to expand CHIP and to actively enroll children in Medicaid and CHIP. Whatever the mechanism, every child needs easy access to quality pediatric care. This is a great investment in each child, and in the future of our society. Preventing problems is far better than coping with their aftermath.
