Medical Economics

I am not a political partisan. Nor am I an expert on economics. But as I listened to Al Gore's speech on August 15th, 2000, I was thrilled to hear the issues that affect our children come to the forefront of the political debate. Whether it was healthcare ('no family should have to appear on television to get the medical care their child needs', 'an enforceable patient's bill of rights', and 'health insurance for all children') or education (from public preschools to tax deductible college to gun-free schools to tobacco-free kids to schools as a top spending priority), the environment (children deserve clean water and clean air and a sustainable environment), or international issues (free trade tied to child labor protection), children's issues were cast in sharp relief. Whether or not you are in the United States and no matter what your political persuasion, I urge you to approach any political decision with your parent hat on. You are your children's voice in the system. Support whatever you believe is in the deepest and best interest of your children.
